Day 63 - St Mary's Cathedral

Today’s photo is a shot of St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral in the West End of Edinburgh.  We are lucky in Edinburgh to have so many fantastic historic buildings including churches and cathedrals.  This one is a beautiful cathedral which was opened in 1879.  I like the light and tone in this shot.  You can find out more about the cathedral on its website here.  The outside of the Cathedral is also wonderful and I was torn between an indoor or outdoor shot but something about this one resonated.  When you stand inside the Cathedral you really feel the scale and the work it must have taken to build such a building.  This shot seems to show the grandeur and scale of the building better than the outdoor shots.  Hope you like it.

This is stunning. I was there at the time when the Prestopans Tapestry was on display inside and I was hugely impressed.
