It’s been a while since I posted a photo on the blog but I am planning to start posting again more often.  This is a shot taken at Tantallon Castle in Scotland looking out to sea.  The island across to the right is called the Bass Rock.  It has an interesting history which you can read about here.

I shot the photo on my iPhone 5s and also edited on the phone too.  I am also thinking about some posts about the apps and processes I use.  Hope you like the photo.  Also going to re-jig my Flickr and 500px streams.

Time for Coffee

It’s been a while since I last published to the blog but I will be back posting more regularly from now on.  You can check out my other recent shots on Flickr or Twitter where I have posted some of my shots taken with my smartphone.  Today’s shot was taken with my Fuji XF1.

Juxtaposition

Back online…

I have updated (and renamed) the blog since my last post.  Project 3SIX5 was great and really forced me to open my eyes photographically.  I discovered my love of street photography through the project; but it eventually became too restrictive for the reasons set out in my last post.

This shot was taken in Edinburgh and I love the juxtaposition between foreground and background in this shot, giving the impression that the building is directly on top of the shopping centre in the foreground.

Thanks for sticking with me through the Intermission, I hope you keep following; I plan to post again regularly.

Intermission.

After thinking about it a lot I have decided to take the blog in a slightly different direction. I am still going to post photos but not necessarily every day.

Over the course of Project 365 I have taken literally thousands of photos some of which I really like and some which I feel are not as good. Project 365 has begun to feel restrictive as on some days I have taken more than one photo which I like, and it has been difficult to select one shot. On other days, when the shots are not so great, I have to post a shot which I may not necessarily be really happy with, and often is not as good as some of the shots that I rejected on previous days.

Thinking back to 1 December 2013, the goal of starting my Project 365 blog was to challenge me to continually learn and improve my photography rather than to restrict it; so I have decided that going forward I will only post shots that I am happy with rather than posting a single photo every day. I still plan to post regularly and I hope you will keep following as it means a lot.
